Georgia Neurological Surgery

Georgia Neurological Surgery is one of the largest neurosurgical groups in the Northeast Georgia region. In addition to our main location in Athens, Georgia Neurological Surgery also has neurosurgery clinics in Royston, Toccoa, Demorest, Monroe and Winder. Each physician, nurse and support staff member within our system works together to create the best environment for patients. Phone systems, medical records and staff operations are closely linked to allow patients to move easily throughout our locations.

Neurological surgery is the medical specialty concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of patients with disorders affecting the nervous system, which includes the brain, spinal cord and nerves. The neurological surgeons at Georgia Neurological Surgery may provide either surgical or non-surgical care, depending upon the nature of the injury or illness. Injuries to the head, spinal cord or nerves require neurosurgical treatment. Our Neurosurgeons also care for patients with tumors of the brain or spinal cord. Common problems such as carpal tunnel syndrome are treated as well. Perhaps the most common condition that neurosurgeons treat is pain in the neck or lower back as a result of a ruptured disk. Some of these symptoms may be treated non-surgically through medication or therapy. Osteoporotic fractures of the spine are also treated with new procedures.

The neurological center includes the expertise of:

Georgia Neurological Surgery involves specialized physical therapists who have advanced training in relieving pain. Because Georgia Neurological Surgery involves physical therapy and has x-ray and MRI capabilities, the patient no longer has to drive around town for care. All the necessary diagnostic testing and non-operative treatment together eliminates the need for multiple referrals, delayed care and confusion.dr kimberly walpert dr harlan bruner, Georgia Neurological Surgery & Comprehensive Spine

When surgery is necessary

If your problem requires surgery, Georgia Neurological Surgery has neurosurgeons who already are referred the most complex surgical cases across Georgia. These cases include injuries to the head, spinal cord or nerves, herniated discs, spinal fractures, spinal deformity and spinal tumor.

These neurosurgeons use some of the most advanced instrumentation and spine surgery techniques. Because of the minimally invasive techniques used by the Georgia Neurological Surgery surgeons, Dr. John Cuff, Dr. Kimberly Walpert, Dr. Bryan Barnes, Dr. Ted Jacobs and Dr. Harlan Bruner, many patients are able to have their surgery in the morning and then return home the same day to recover in the comfort of their own home.
